Jamie Foxx: Christians in Uproar Over “Lord & Savior” “Obama” Comments

Monday, November 26th, 2012 – If you have a watched the Soul Train Awards last night, then I’m pretty sure you’re familiar with these words “It’s like church in here. First of all, give an honor to God and our lord and savior Barack Obama.”  What some see as a joke, excitement, and pride in President Barack Obama’s recent re-election, many followers of the Christian faith view Foxx’s comment as down right blasphemous.  Foxx’s Facebook fan page has been flooded with comments from angry Christians calling for Foxx to “repent”, “back track”, and apologize for his apparent bad joke.  Some comments even ask for a response from President Obama himself.  As of yet, there has been no response from Foxx regarding his statement on the award show.

Here are some of the comments we ran across:

Facebook –

  • Kathryn E. –  Jesus Christ is Savior and Lord, NOT OBAMA. You need to PUBLICLY repent and retract your statement. It was demonic and foolish. What a jerk.
  • Wendy H. – Lost a fan here too, burned all the CD’s and movies, used to be a huge fan….not no more !!!
  • Angie C. – Jamie…There is only ONE LORD and Savior and His name is Jesus Christ.
Twitter –
  • @HeatherLove I’m sorry Jamie Foxx (referring to him calling Barack Obama his “lord & savior)– Barack Obama didn’t die for our sins, Jesus did.
  • @JohuaNass Last night, Jamie Foxx called barackobama “our” lord and savior. Correction: he may be yours, but he’s certainly not ours…

Tell us what you think.  Should Jamie Foxx apologize? Was it blasphemous or just a joke that went bad?
