Hello Loves! This week we are focusing on spring/summer trend number two: Metallic clothing and accessories.

metallic_clothing1   In season’s past accessory hardware such as grommets, studs, and spikes were all the rage but this time around things are taking a more sophisticated approach. Shoes and bags in gold, silver, and holographic foil finish are a must have as we head into summer. Looking for the perfect clutch to complete your evening outfit? Try adding a silver “envelope”  or a small gold box clutch to compliment your look. Shoes this season are getting the Midas touch with gold or bronze block heels, and a silver pump is the “go-to” choice to complete any outfit! As always, jewelry can be the best way to incorporate any trend into your wardrobe. A chunky gold chain or a silver statement necklace will many simpler outfits pop. Now is the time to wear those big gold and silver hoops you’ve had for years!

metallic_clothing2               Now you may be thinking “Accessories are one thing, but metallic clothing?” Don’t panic! Trust me it is not only doable, but it’s very current. The Spring/Summer 2013 runway shows were full of metallic clothing, from textured pieces to bold leather skirts, designers like Donna Karen and Burberry gave us plenty of fabulous examples. Whether you choose a gold wrap dress, a silver pencil skirt, or a pair of bronze skinny jeans, the key is fit! Steer clear of ill-fitting pieces that are too baggy (think Ma$e & Puffy circa 1998) or too tight (too much like “stripper gear”), these will be sure to make the trend a fashion don’t! Lastly, limit the amount of metallic pieces you wear all together in one outfit. Unless you’re trying to look like the Oscar statue, less is more.   Until next time…. XO – K
