Hello Loves, I am pleased to announce Fall is here! Soon leaves will turn, humidity will lower, and “pumpkin spice” lattes will be featured at your favorite coffee shop. Nothing signals the end of summer quite like Labor Day, however for many the Fall season is marked by one phrase in particular: Back to School. Using this as our guide, let’s take a look at some back to school inspired trends for those of us who’ve long since left grade school…

Plaid – Trust me when I tell you, this classic pattern will never go out of style. Designers like Tommy Hilfigure and Ralph Lauren to the Gap are taking a queue from private schools embracing this timeless look for Fall 2013. Look for closet staples like the quintessensial plaid blazer or tailored trousers. Not a huge fan? Try it out on a pair of pumps or in a wool scarf for subtlety.

Pleats – Prim, proper, and prep school chic, this season pleated skirts and dresses are a must. Whether you choose to wear them dressed down with Converse sneakers, dressed up with pointed stilletos and crip oxford shirts be sure to add these to your wardrobe. *Tip: want a new look for date night? Try a leather mini with pleats and black opaque tights for colder weather.

Satchel Purse – Even if you’re not Blair Waldorf, Whitely Gilbert, or Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman every lady should own a satchel purse. The perfect combination of style and function, this style of handbag has been seen consistently for the past three years in every store from Target to Burberry. This season look for bolder hues in Oxblood, Cobalt blue, or Kelly green.
