From the General Manager:

Over the past few months, America has witnessed many grave injustices in our legal system.  Through the wrongful deaths of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, and Mike Brown, a clear, concise message has been sent to America’s black community: White police officers and/or vigilantes can shoot and kill black men without consequences.  No Justice.  Over and over again, we have seen unarmed black men slain in our streets.  Over and over again, we have experienced heartbreak, feelings of inferiority, and helplessness at the hands of those sworn to protect us.

Don’t misconstrue my words or take this essay as a racist rant.  I believe all life matters, be it black, white, yellow, red, or whatever color our God has created you to be.  Your life matters.  However, from the perspective of the black community, who has repeatedly faced unfair discrimination, horrible miscarriages of justice, and even death penalties for crimes that hardly warrant them, equality with our “fellow” white Americans is a fleeting notion.  Apparently, it is okay for a white police officer to be the judge, jury, and executioner.

You cannot continue to kill us.  You cannot continue to treat our lives as if we are disposable napkins.  You will not continue to push us down. You will only build our resolve.  We will no longer live our lives under duress.  One way or the other, we will be heard. I rather it be at the polls, but maybe that isn’t enough.  I rather it be civil, but maybe it’s time to fight.  For those who subscribe to the idea that we are all depraved, uneducated thugs, worthy of injustice, out to destroy you and your way of life – we are not.  Be forewarned:  There is a revolution on the horizon. #BlackLivesMatter
