Dress Code S/S ’14 Trends: Sheer

Hello loves! We’re still counting down the top five trends for spring/summer and this week number three on my list is sheer clothing. Trust me when I tell you this trend has been incorporated into nearly every designer’s collection. Now you may be apprehensive about trying anything sheer and I completely understand. However, just as we discussed ladylike ways to wear a crop top, I assure you sheer clothing can be done tastefully.

While some of the sheer clothing to hit the runway this season were high fashion and down right provacative, many designs showcased a wonderful mixture of sex appeal and class.  In my opinion the key to sucessfully wearing this trend and acheiving a look that’s romantic not raunchy is placement. Strategically placed sheer inserts, layering the correct shade of neutral under a lace dress or top, and even pumps or booties that showcase mesh fabric. When shopping for such pieces look for dresses with sheer necklines (i.e. skater or bodycon style), as these are the perfect go to for day to evening. Try a sheer button up paired with a silk cami or a high waist pencil skirt with a mesh hemline. The possibilities are endless, just mix and match!

*TIP: These looks have been spotted recently at H&M, Zara, & Forever 21 DC
